Description
An original old school Puerto Rican/Italian writer from Manhattan, COCO 144 grew up on 144th st in upper West Harlem. The diverse working-class neighborhood was then primarily African-American and Latino. He was one of the first writers to participate in the transition from train writing into the tunnels, and he was a founding member of United Graffiti Artists (UGA). COCO made the leap from the subways to paint canvas artwork that was exhibited in galleries and museums.
