@amgobjects is an artist and sculptor living in Amagansett.
This deck has been carved, gouged, sanded and finished by burning it “Shou Sugi Ban” style.
My work is inspired by the coastline of the East End.
I reclaim and reimagine wood and other found materials into objects that reflect the energy and constant state of flow found in the narrow strip where water meets the land.
Burning and bleaching the forms is a nod to nature’s cycle of life: birth, death, decay, rebirth.
Living with objects that pay homage to the natural world can help remind us to slow down and appreciate the beauty that’s all around us.
